Laura Zanetto

Laura Zanetto, PLA, PWS, is a Senior Scientist, licensed Professional Landscape Architect and Professional Wetland Scientist with over 15 years of experience in ecological assessment, restoration design, and environmental compliance. Her work focuses on improving riparian and floodplain conditions along salmon-bearing streams in the Pacific Northwest, where she applies science-driven design principles to restore ecosystem function.

Laura’s expertise spans analysis of existing riparian and wetland conditions, identification of large-scale processes and trends contributing to aquatic restoration needs, and design of effective, constructible solutions for the reengagement of natural processes in fluvial settings. She is well-versed in federal, state, and local project authorizations, including FEMA floodplain compliance and local critical area ordinances, ensuring that restoration projects meet all necessary environmental regulations through demonstrated uplift in ecosystem function and values.

With a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Oregon, Laura combines technical design and drafting skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D to oversee and produce construction bid packages with a deep understanding of ecological processes. She collaborates closely with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to deliver resilient and adaptive restoration solutions.

Laura is passionate about integrating climate science into restoration efforts. An avid adventurer, she spends her free time backpacking through alpine environments and cycling Whatcom County’s backroads, always watchful for raptors and shorebirds that frequent Washington’s landscapes.
