Julia joined NSD in 2017 as a registered Engineer in Training to contribute to restoration projects using Civil 3D, GIS, R, and HEC-RAS. After finishing her B.A. in Environmental Studies, Julia joined the Peace Corps in Benin where she taught courses in sustainable agriculture and helped design, plan and implement sanitation-related projects. This hands-on experience, combined with 2 years of work at American Rivers, helped define Julia’s passion for combining environmental protection with infrastructure improvement. In pursuit of this idea, Julia completed her graduate studies at the University of Washington, where she received two Master’s degrees in Forestry/Soil Science and in Environmental Engineering. Outside of work, Julia sings in a local choir and goes for hikes as often as possible to soak in the beautiful PNW outdoors.
