Sullivan Creek Engineered Logjam Design and Habitat Restoration, Seattle City Light, Pend Oreille County, WA

Sullivan Creek ELJ Design and Habitat Restoration, Pend Oreille County, WA

NSD + CGS was contracted by Seattle City Light to restore instream habitat at the confluence of Sullivan Creek and the Pend Oreille River. As one of the first habitat mitigation projects for the 2013 FERC Boundary Hydro relicensing agreement, the project provides in-stream habitat complexity for resident fish populations, cold water refugia for juvenile ESA listed salmonids, and utilizes stream flows to create and maintain pool habitat in lower Sullivan Creek. NSD + CGS performed a geomorphic assessment, hydraulic analysis, risk assessment and engineering design for implementation of 2 engineered logjam structures that were constructed with on-site engineering assistance in summer 2014.
