Dr. Tim Abbe is an internationally recognized geomorphologist and licensed professional engineering geologist and hydrogeologist with over 33 years of experience. Specializing in fluvial and coastal geomorphology, environmental assessments, habitat restoration, flood protection, and sustainable land management, Tim has pioneered the use of engineered logjams in river restoration. He has led over 200 restoration projects, designing more than 1,000 wood structures that have been implemented globally, including in the Pacific Northwest, Australia, Bhutan, Haiti, and Bolivia.
Tim is also an accomplished author, contributing to state and federal guidelines for erosion hazard delineation, wood use in restoration, and numerous peer-reviewed publications. His expertise has been sought by government agencies and tribal organizations for large-scale river and habitat restoration initiatives. Notable projects include the Middle Hoh River Resiliency Plan, Upper Quinault River Restoration, and Upper Dungeness River Restoration.
