Julia is a scientist and civil engineer who holds a certificate in data science as well as two master’s degrees in environmental engineering and environmental/forestry science, all from the University of Washington. She has worked at NSD since 2017 and has five years of prior experience in water resources and aquatic restoration. Julia specializes in analysis and design of aquatic habitat and floodplain restoration projects as well as holistic analyses linking hydrology, hydraulics, ecology, and geomorphology. She often uses statistics and applied data analysis techniques such as machine learning and numerical modeling to approach complex restoration challenges from a data-driven perspective. Julia is experienced using HEC-RAS, Riverflow2D, SRH2D, VELMA, SMS, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, R, and Python.
